Cahraen Whitewanderer was the highest Mage of his Order, and was faithful in his duty to Mother Earth and in attending to the works of the other Mages. His focus and deep connection with the elements gave him power and insight that outstripped any Mage in history, and many believed that it was only a matter of time before he would reach a higher state and transcend completely to that rare and much coveted state of Magus Magus; a demi-God of sorcery.

Cahraen had a younger sister, Lucia, whom he treasured beyond all the world, and he took it upon himself to secure her comfort and safety. She was engaged to her sweetheart, a carpenter called Thomas Marden, and they were to be wed on her nineteenth birthday. But, on the eve of her nineteenth, Lucia vanished into the night. No one had seen or heard her leave, and she had taken nothing with her. Marden ran to the Order, hoping wildly she might have come to see her brother, but she was not there. Cahraen felt fear settle in his heart, as he had not sensed any disturbance. He immediately set about for a night vigil, determined to find his little sister.

Hours passed, and still he could not find any traces of where she had disappeared to. Panic began to set in, and he gathered his belongings and headed out to the moors. He searched for hours, his calls and summons becoming more and more desperate. Finally, in one last attempt as a crimson sunrise began to bleed over the hill, he broke his sacred vows and summoned all the dark magick he knew. Evil blasted and scorched his body, but he awoke with a deeper power than he had ever experienced before. Drunk on the sheer magnitude of his newfound power, he blasted across the land, razing forests and villages alike in the blink of an eye, searching for his sister. He swept into the underworld, and there at last found his beloved Lucia, in the clutches of the Underlord himself.

Cahraen demanded the Underlord acknowledge his superior, and release his sister. The Underlord simply laughed, and ordered Cahraen to behold himself. Cahraen looked, and recoiled at the skeletal form before him, pentagram scorched into the bone of the forehead.

“You are Cahraen no longer,” the Underlord boomed. “You are Bonemind. And you bear my mark. You have no dominion here.” At which he released Lucia – and commanded Bonemind to destroy her.

Bonemind poisons worlds and consciousnesses through his unmatched sorcery, drawing upon the aid of the Ancient Fire Entities to help him in his wickedness. He despises himself and the Underlord, but is bound by his own actions to serve him for eternity.
